a5c7b9f00b Set a decade after the U.S.S Voyager's return to Earth, a rag-tag crew of renegades and outcasts must covertly work with Admiral Chekov and Tuvok to stop forces threatening the Federation from outside, and within. Star Trek meets The Dirty Dozen in this exciting new Star Trek series about a group of rogues, rebels, and outcasts who find themselves faced with the greatest threat the Federation has ever encountered. With Admiral Chekov (Walter Koenig) heading up Starfleet Intelligence and Tuvok (Tim Russ) a part of Starfleet's clandestine Section 31 organization, they recruit Captain Lexxa Singh (Adrienne Wilkinson) and her rogue crew to do those missions that no one else can or will do. When the Federation is threatened and Starfleet protocol won't work, it is up to this rag-tag group of Renegades to save them all. I find it interesting that a kick starter fan based production actually reflects the base of the Star Trek universe others have stated they cut corners, well with a limited budget they managed to attract a cast that would do justice to a full blown production. Of course there will be corners cut many characters could have been fleshed out but all in all a very enjoyable effort in what one might make an analysis Gene Roddenberry would have totally enjoyed this story. Take it for what it is and enjoy. There are to many critics that can not sit down and just derive pleasure from the event nit picking their ego's to that 15 minutes of fame they seem to think they deserve First off, to be fair, I think it has to be noted that this is a fan funded endeavour. As such I wasn't expecting a full on box office smash style movie and obviously that's not what we got. What we did get however was a whole bunch of potential which was unfortunately let down in some crucial areas. Lets start with the good parts; It was good that they included some familiar Star Trek faces as this is what all the other series/movies have done (eg Mccoy in early next gen, Picard in early DS9, "Old" Spock in new films etc) as this helps ease us in to the new cast. The CGI of the ships was surprisingly good and looked a lot like what comes out of many Hollywood studios. Simply the fact that this has been done at all is a major accomplishment, I (and I'm sure many others) have been hoping for a new ST series for a long time and if this is the only way to get that ball rolling then I'm glad someone has done it.<br/><br/>Sadly now the bad points The storyline seemed clunky with no real "gripping" twist or plot point The sets and special effects were amateurish and reminded me of old Doctor Who episodes Many, but by no means all, of the cast appeared to have the acting ability of an amateur dramatics group<br/><br/>Overall though this had the feel of a low budget pilot hoping to create enough interest to gain studio backing for a full series which is precisely what I hope will happen. As with a bit of guidance and a more experienced writer and director the general concept of a "just outside" Starfleet crew who can deal with threats that a crew bound by the prime directive can't has definite potential!
